Have you ever walked into a place and felt an explosion of color? Oh! Mirettes is just that. Located at 19 Rue des Trois Rois in the heart of Marseille this little shop is a vibrant explosion of illustration. It’s more than just a shop though. It’s a journey.
Oh! Mirettes opened in April 2021. It’s the brainchild of Elsa and Mel two friends with a shared passion for illustration. Mel’s background is in graphic design and bookselling. Elsa’s expertise lies in marketing and training. Together they created this haven for art lovers.
The space itself is charming. It’s housed in a former annex of the Waaw. It has been beautifully renovated with raw wood vintage sofas and antique tables. The atmosphere is cozy. It perfectly complements the artwork on display. Around thirty talented and imaginative artists are featured. Their styles vary widely. There’s no specific theme but names like Cecile Gambini Jeanne Macaigne Roxane Campoy and Gaetan Doremus give a taste of the variety. Every three months or so one artist is highlighted with a small exhibition.
But Oh! Mirettes is more than just a gallery. It’s a dynamic hub for cultural events. They host book signings meet-and-greets and evening events. There are also workshops for all ages. These cover various illustration techniques like drawing lino-gravure screen printing collage and painting. Oh! Mirettes champions the idea that illustration is not just for children.
Everything in the shop is for sale. You can even buy the vintage furniture from the Brocante Joli Rouge. The online store offers the same items but visiting the physical shop is a must. The experience is truly unique. You’ll leave with your eyes full of color and your heart full of illustrated worlds. Oh! Mirettes is a must-see in Marseille. It’s a testament to the power of art and friendship. It’s a place where creativity thrives. A place you won’t soon forget.
