Today we are standing at the Earth and Moon location of Planetstien. It offers a unique way to experience the vastness of space. It brings it down to a human scale. Planetstien offers a fascinating journey. It is a scaled model of our solar system.
The path lets you walk from planet to planet. Each millimeter represents a million kilometers. The Planetstien in Lemvig is special. It is the longest and oldest in Denmark. The starting point is marked by a bronze sphere. It represents the Sun. Its diameter is 1.39 meters. This symbolizes the sun’s real diameter. That is 1,391,000 kilometers.
The path includes other celestial bodies. You will see Venus and Halleys Comet. The comet is marked by a boxwood hedge. Farther along the path are Mars, Ceres, and Jupiter. Saturn has its rings. Uranus is near the beach. It is north of the holiday center and marina. Finally, you reach Neptune and Pluto at Gjeller Odde.
Pluto has an oval orbit. It is shown in three positions. Each planet has a granite base. It also has a bronze top. A sphere shows the planet’s size.
The Planetstien in Hvidovre is six kilometers long. It runs through Kystagerparken. This is a large grassy area. You might spot kestrels and sparrow hawks there.
The Planet Path begins at Amarken Station. There are toilets there. You can also start from Hvidovre Harbour.
