Lindevang Kirke was completed in 1930. It wasn’t always called Lindevang Kirke though. It was originally meant to be called Adventskirken. The Frederiksberg Municipal Council preferred a name that reflected the area. Hence Lindevang Kirke was born. Its construction was quite the undertaking. Architects Anton Frederiksen and Thomas Havning designed it. They had to submit their plans three times before receiving approval. Private donations and a generous legacy from Miss Anna Cathrine From funded the project. The land itself was a gift from the Frederiksberg Municipal Council. They stipulated the building had to be monumental. The prominent location on Peter Bangs Vej was put to good use.
Inside Lindevang Kirke you’ll find a barrel-vaulted ceiling made of wood. It’s a magnificent architectural detail. Jens Urup’s dramatic fresco is another highlight. There’s even community singing every Friday. If you need a moment of peace there’s a meditative hour every Tuesday.
