Gereja Kasih Emanuel holds the distinction of being one of the earliest civic structures in Koningsplein, which later became Merdeka Square.

The doors, crafted from solid teak, boast ornate brass handles and keyholes. Crowning the edifice is a broad, dark greyish-brown dome, topped by a white cupola. The chairs are arranged in a circular pattern, surrounding the state lectern once used by the Governor of Batavia. A grand Bätz organ, installed in 1843 and later restored in 1985, adds to the church’s rich heritage. Among its treasured possessions is a 1748 Dutch State Bible, printed by Nicolaas Goetzee of Gorinchem.
