Ciracas. Does the name ring a bell? It is a district tucked away in East Jakarta. Established in 1991, Ciracas boasts a unique history. It was once part of Meester Cornelis during the Dutch East Indies era. Later, in 1976, it became part of Pasar Rebo.

Now, picture Ciracas. It is the southernmost district in Jakarta. The Cibubur Scout’s camping ground resides partly within its borders. However, the main area lies in Cipayung District. Ciracas is bordered by the Cipinang River to the west. The Cipinang River and Jambore Road define its southern boundary. The Jagorawi Tollroad marks its eastern edge. Finally, Kelapa Dua Wetan Road shapes its northern limit.

Ciracas is not just a geographical location. It is a vibrant community. The district is further divided into five administrative villages. These are Cibubur, Kelapa Dua Wetan and Ciracas. Then there are Susukan and Rambutan. Each village has its own postal code.

Let’s talk landmarks. Ciracas has several important places. Kampung Rambutan Bus Terminal stands as a transportation hub. Ciracas Market offers local goods. Also consider Gelanggang Remaja. It is a youth court. The Religious Court of East Jakarta and the Sports Court of Ciracas are also here.

Getting around Ciracas is easy. The Jagorawi Toll Road has an exit at Cibubur. The Jakarta Outer Ring Road has exits at Kampung Rambutan and Bambu Apus. Public transportation is abundant.

Consider the rail options. The LRT Jabodebek has stations at Ciracas and Kampung Rambutan. MRT Jakarta is planning stations too. They will be at Raya Bogor, Tanah Merdeka and Kampung Rambutan.

Road-based transportation is comprehensive. Transjakarta operates numerous routes. These include routes from Cibubur to Blok M and Balai Kota. There are also routes from Kampung Rambutan to Kampung Melayu. Mikrotrans also serves the area with many routes.

Ciracas is more than just a district. It is a blend of history, community and accessibility. From its days as part of Meester Cornelis to its modern transportation options. Ciracas connects people and places in Jakarta.
