Lakehill Preparatory School wasn’t always standing here. It was founded in 1971, coinciding with the tumultuous period of desegregation busing in the Dallas Independent School District. Many families sought alternative educational options, leading to the establishment of new private institutions like Lakehill. Now, picture this: it’s 2009, and the heart of Lakehill, its gymnasium, is consumed by a devastating fire. Yet, from the ashes, a symbol of resilience emerged. Within just a few months, the school rallied and unveiled a brand new gym, a testament to its determined spirit. This spirit is also embodied in the Alice and Erle Nye Family Environmental Science Center, a striking addition to Lakehill’s Roger L. Perry Campus. This 6,500-square-foot facility, completed in 2009, stands as a beacon of sustainability, boasting a prestigious silver LEED certification. Here, students don’t just learn about environmental science, they live it. Lakehill Preparatory School isn’t just a place of learning, it’s a testament to the power of community, perseverance, and a commitment to providing a holistic education.
