Can you imagine standing on the very ground where golf legends have walked and played for over 250 years? You are standing right in front of the Royal Musselburgh Golf Course, the sixth oldest in the world. This majestic parkland course, designed by the legendary James Braid, is a testament to Scotland’s enduring love for the game. The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club initially resided on Levenhall Links, just a short distance from here, but in 1925, it moved to Prestongrange House. This grand house, originally owned by the monks of Newbattle Abbey, became the heart of the club, and its history is as rich as the game itself. The club is known for its historic Old Club Cup, the oldest continuously played golf trophy in the world. It can be seen in the clubhouse, a reminder of the traditions that have been passed down through generations. The Royal Musselburgh Golf Club is a place where history meets modern-day passion, a place where legends are made and cherished traditions continue to thrive.
