Completed in 1906, St. John’s RC Church isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of the Catholic community in this seaside town. The architect, JT Walford, imbued the structure with a timeless elegance, its design a blend of grace and grandeur. Step inside, and you’ll discover a treasure – a magnificent organ, originally from the town of Hawick. In 1961, the organ found a new home here at St. John’s, lovingly rebuilt by the skilled hands of Rushworth and Dreaper. Its voice, rich and resonant, continues to fill these hallowed halls, accompanying hymns and prayers that have echoed through generations.
