Established in 1987 DISTED College stands proudly on Macalister Road. It’s a testament to the vision of three educationists. Gajaraj Dhanarajan Hulman Sinaga and Sharom Ahmat dreamed big. They wanted to provide adults with a path to higher education. Their initial plan focused on distance education. However costs of overseas courses shifted their focus to younger students.
DISTED College quickly became Penang’s first private tertiary institution. Initially housed in a bungalow it expanded rapidly. The college moved several times due to space constraints. Eventually finding a permanent home in a mansion. This historic building once belonged to a prominent 19th-century tycoon Yeap Chor Ee.
The college offers a wide array of programs. From pre-university courses like A-Levels and the South Australian Certificate of Education to diplomas and degrees. Many of these programs are twinned with foreign universities. This provides students with international opportunities and recognition. DISTED also boasts a five-star rating from the Malaysian Quality Evaluation System. This reflects its commitment to quality education and excellence.
