Perhaps you have noticed the gleaming white structure before us. This is the Albukhary Mosque. Its minaret pierces the sky. It is more than just a place of prayer. It is a testament to faith and architectural inspiration.
The Albukhary Mosque stands proudly in Bandar Sri Pinang. Its construction completed just before November 2019. The Albukhary Foundation fully funded this grand mosque. Subsequently, it was handed over to the Penang Islamic Religious Council.
Look at the tall white minaret. Notice the green neon lights at its peak. This design pays homage to the Nabawi mosque minaret. That is one of the earliest mosques built by Prophet Muhammad.
Inside, the Albukhary Mosque can accommodate 2,000 worshippers. Imagine the collective devotion within these walls. Separate prayer halls cater to both men and women. There is also a lecture hall and office space. The Albukhary Mosque even includes a funeral parlor.
Consider the thoughtful details. Special restrooms accommodate individuals with special needs. An ablution area spans 28,000 square feet. There are 68 parking bays for cars and motorcycles. Every aspect caters to the community’s needs.
Two weeks after its handover, the first congregational prayer took place. Since then, locals have gathered here daily. They perform their prayers in this magnificent facility.

On December 20, 2019, a significant event occurred. The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah officiated the opening. He arrived clad in Baju Melayu. He was accompanied by Penang Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas. The RM12 million mosque was officially open.
