Didn’t FaithBrook Church start as the Maple Grove Church of the Nazarene? FaithBrook Church has a rich history. It goes back to the 1920s. In 1929, four lay-leaders each gave $25. This money obtained the property of a disorganized church. It was off Rice Lake Road in Maple Grove. That location is now Maple Knoll Cemetery. The church was officially organized on December 8, 1929. It was named the Maple Grove Church of the Nazarene. District Superintendent S.C. Taylor organized it.
In 1939, Ed Johnson became the new pastor. He was eager and young. His salary was $2.00 per week. When he arrived, the church had 19 members. The building was in disrepair. After a couple of years, the church began to grow. Pastor Ed wanted to relocate to Osseo. In 1947, they bought a corner lot at 1st and 3rd Ave NW.
Ed Johnson led for 27 years. He helped the church grow. He coordinated additions to the building. He had help from strong lay involvement. The Cordells, the Roberts, and the McGilvras also gave pastoral leadership.
In 1996, Pastor Richard and Ronda Sickles built a new sanctuary and lobby. Many volunteers helped. The Sickles later became District Superintendents for the Minnesota District.
In 2001, Pastor Jim Comfort became the Lead Pastor. The I-94 corridor was growing past Osseo. The church leadership started praying about their future.
In 2007, the Osseo Church voted to relocate. They wanted to be more visible. They wanted to be more accessible. They wanted to be better positioned for future growth. Pastor Jim challenged Osseo Church. He wanted them to dream and risk for the next generation. He didn’t want them to consider the comfort of current members.
God answered their prayers. He opened up property on the edge of Maple Grove and Dayton.
In 2009, Faithbrook’s current property was purchased. It cost $625,000. The church leadership began raising money. They drew up construction plans. The economy fell into a recession. This halted the relocation plans.
The people of Osseo Church remained faithful. They waited patiently. In 2015, God honored their diligence and prayers. He started opening doors to make the relocation possible again. Nine critical miracles took place.
Ground was broken in 2016. Osseo Church was renamed and rebranded as Faithbrook Church. During construction, Faithbrook met at Sundance Golf Course. They met in the upstairs ballroom.
Developers broke ground across the street. They built a new community with 900 homes.
God provided a grant from the John C. Lasko Foundation. It was for $700,000. It helped pay for Faithbrook’s new sanctuary.
Faithbrook Church moved into their new building in July of 2017. They launched with a Grand Opening in September of 2017. Faithbrook has continued to grow. It makes an impact for Christ in the community.
