Nestled on the Johannes Gutenberg University campus is the Gastprofessorenhaus. It offers a unique glimpse into academic life. The Gastprofessorenhaus, located on Johann-Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg 2, provides temporary housing for visiting scholars. These apartments cater to international guest researchers and lecturers. They offer a more affordable alternative to hotels or private rentals for stays between one and six months. The Gastprofessorenhaus features 30 apartments, some designed for accessibility. The single apartments offer a combined living and workspace. They include a desk, bookshelf, bed, wardrobe, dining table, chairs, kitchenette, and a bathroom with shower and toilet. Double apartments add a separate living room with a pull-out couch, accommodating up to four people. All apartments come fully equipped with linens, towels, kitchenware, and utensils. A convenient bus and tram stop, “Friedrich-von-Pfeiffer-Weg,” sits right in front of the building. Parking is available nearby, but requires a paid permit for campus access. Monthly rent is 1100 euros for single apartments and 1700 euros for double apartments. This includes weekly cleaning. A one-time cleaning fee of 90 euros for singles and 120 euros for doubles is added to the first month’s bill.
