This tiny, uninhabited island first came to the world’s attention in the early 1800s. Napoleon’s mapmaker, Charles-François Beautemps-Beaupré, included Galešnjak in his detailed atlas of the Dalmatian Coast. Then, in 2009, Google Earth brought the island’s unique shape to the world. Today, Galešnjak is a popular spot for romantic getaways and even weddings. Though uninhabited, the island holds vestiges of a past long gone.
