Millicent Fawcett his wife Octavia Hill and the Kyrle Society fought for this park. They battled a developer wanting houses. The Vauxhall Park Act of 1888 secured the land. Houses on Lawn Terrace were demolished. The Prince of Wales officially opened Vauxhall Park in 1890. It cost around 45000 pounds a significant sum then.
