Remember that sweltering August day in 2002? Compass One wasn’t Compass One then. It was Compass Point a brand new mall opening its doors in Sengkang. This wasn’t just any shopping mall. It was Singapore’s first thematic suburban mall. Its theme? Learning.

Imagine walking through Compass Point. Educational panels and posters lined the walls. They shared interesting facts updated regularly. Each floor represented a continent. The basement was Oceania. The ground floor was Asia. Europe graced the second level. The Americas were on the third and Africa held court on the fourth.

Compass Point was more than just retail. It was an integrated development. It stood alongside the new Sengkang MRT/LRT station and the Compass Heights condominium. The cost? A staggering S$230 million. It was a bold statement a testament to Singapore’s growing North East.

But times change. By 2015 Compass Point needed a change. Extensive renovations began. M&G Real Estate took over ownership. The name changed. After a Facebook competition and public feedback the name Compass One was chosen.

Compass One reopened in September 2016. It was reborn. A new interior design greeted shoppers. Over 180 specialty tenants filled the space. A new layout included a wet and dry playground. Even the Sengkang Public Library found a home on levels 3 and 4.

Today Compass One isn’t just a mall. It’s a community hub. Long-time tenants like Cold Storage and Kiddy Palace still thrive. But new stores like Challenger and Owndays have joined the mix. It serves over 260,000 residents. It continues to evolve.

Compass One stands as a symbol of transformation. From its learning-focused past to its current vibrant community space. This isn’t just a place to shop. It’s a place to connect a place to remember a place that’s written its story into the heart of Sengkang. So take a moment. Breathe in the atmosphere of Compass One. You’re experiencing more than a shopping mall. You’re experiencing a piece of Sengkang’s history.
