Could a vintage travel trailer house a vibrant art scene? Here at the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall stands the Spartan Royal Mansion Gallery. This isn’t your typical gallery. It’s housed inside a beautifully restored 1950 Spartan Royal Mansion Travel Trailer.

Step inside the Royal Mansion Gallery. You will discover a curated collection. It features works from 35 local artists and makers. The gallery offers a unique shopping experience. It blends art and vintage charm.

The story of the Spartan trailer itself is fascinating. After World War II, the Spartan Aircraft Company sought new ventures. They turned their aircraft manufacturing expertise to trailers. They used semi-monocoque construction. This was a first in the RV business.

These trailers were built to last. They featured aluminum exteriors and lavish interiors. A 25-foot Spartan Manor cost about $4,000 in the 1940s. A new home, including the land, cost about $8,000 then.

The Royal Mansion was a larger model. It stretched to 31 feet. The company hired designer G.R. Schutes. He gave their product a modern look. It had a streamlined art deco design.

The Spartan Royal Mansion Gallery embraces this history. It offers a unique setting for art. It connects the past with the present.

Consider the craftsmanship. The curved metal and windshields set Spartans apart. Owning one was a statement. It still is today.

The Spartan Aircraft Company made trailers until 1962. They then shifted to insurance. Today, vintage Spartans are highly collectible. Restored models can fetch impressive prices. One company restored a Spartan trailer. They sold it for $150,000.

Visiting the Royal Mansion Gallery is more than seeing art. It’s stepping into a piece of history. It is supporting local artists. The gallery is located at the Georgetown Trailer Park Mall. The address is 5805 Airport Way South, Seattle. The gallery is open Saturdays 11-6 and Sundays 11-4. Stop by and experience art in a truly unique space.
