This gigantic aircraft, the Airbus A400M, is a testament to international collaboration. While the final assembly takes place in Seville, Spain, its journey begins right here in Bremen. Inside the Airbus facility, skilled workers meticulously piece together the massive fuselage sections. These sections are then equipped with essential systems, including the cargo loading system, a Bremen-engineered marvel that ensures swift and efficient loading and unloading. This plane isn’t just big, it’s smart. After its time in Bremen, the A400M fuselage embarks on a journey aboard the “Beluga,” Airbus’s own cargo aircraft, to Seville for its final assembly. Interestingly, Bremen played a special role in the A400M’s testing phase. One of the first A400M prototypes, affectionately nicknamed “Grizzly 4,” retired right here in Bremen in 2022. Now, this aviation veteran enjoys a well-deserved retirement as a display piece and event space at the Airbus site.
