Architect Yori Antar conceived Masjid Jami Al Mubarokah. His design blends modern tropical architecture with Betawi cultural elements. The result is an elegant and environmentally friendly space. It represents local wisdom.
Originally, former Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok had different ideas for the mosque’s dome. The final design changed the dome. The building’s size also decreased by 40%. This adjustment accommodated the old mosque’s dimensions.
The mosque has two floors. The first floor is an open space. It features supportive pillars. This area serves multiple purposes for the community. It hosts weddings circumcisions and other events. Ahok broke ground for the mosque on February 22 2017. The goal was to complete it within six months.
Yori Antar aimed to create a Nusantara-style Indonesian mosque. He emphasized the use of local materials. The open-space concept creates a mosque within a garden. Residents desired a space for weddings and gatherings. The second floor accommodates about 400 worshipers.
Sinarmas Land funded the construction. It was part of their corporate social responsibility program. The government no longer accepts CSR in the form of money. They prefer goods or services. Yori Antar also designed Taman Lapangan Banteng and Taman Diponegoro.
