Listen closely. Forum Hoffnung is more than just a building. It is a vibrant community. It is a testament to faith and resilience in Dresden.

Forum Hoffnung, the Evangelical Free Church community in Dresden Dobritz. “Forum” signifies a diverse community. “Hoffnung” or “Hope” represents God’s good news. This name encapsulates the church’s core values.

For over 120 years, this Evangelical Free Church has been a part of Dresden. The community remains young at heart. They share their faith with fellow Christians. Individual differences are celebrated. Jesus unites everyone as their shared Lord. All are welcome to contribute. All are invited to help shape Forum Hoffnung.

In December 2014, the church moved into this building. It is located on Pirnaer Landstrasse 4. They embraced the challenges. These included financial and personal ones. This was done to create more space for guests. Before this, for 33 years, they resided on Bergmannstrasse 19 in Dresden Striesen. The nickname “19” became synonymous with the Evangelical Free Church. A new location demanded a new name. Thus, Forum Hoffnung was chosen.

The logo embodies this hope. The cross symbolizes the hope Jesus offers. It sits at the heart of their community. The community is represented by a circle. Together they make the hope visible. That is their vision.

Forum Hoffnung is part of the Evangelical Alliance. This is together with many churches and congregations in Dresden. They belong to the Association of Evangelical Free Churches. This association includes over 800 congregations throughout Germany.

They are “evangelisch” or evangelical. The Gospel is the foundation of their faith. It is the good news of Jesus Christ. They are “freikirchlich” or free church. Membership is based on a personal decision. It is based on faith in Jesus Christ. As a free church, they are funded solely through voluntary donations.

Let’s take a quick look back. In 2012, the church acquired this property. It included a factory building. In April 2014, the first groundbreaking ceremony for Forum Hoffnung took place. The first service in Forum Hoffnung was in December 2014. The festive inauguration of Forum Hoffnung was in February 2015. In 2016, the church celebrated its 120th anniversary.

Every Sunday at 10:30 am, they celebrate the service. It takes place in their community center. They would be happy to see you there.

The Forum Hoffnung stands as a beacon. It shows what a community united in faith can achieve. It started with initial gatherings in 1896. It evolved through challenges. It became a modern center of hope and fellowship. Its story is etched in every stone. The spirit resonates in every gathering. It’s a story of faith, community and hope.
