The island rises 206 meters above the sea. Its highest point stands proudly on the north side. A prominent hill marks the southeast end.
Now, let’s turn our gaze toward the south side of Olipa. There a stone square tower rises. This is not just any tower. This is the Olipa Lighthouse. It is a guide for sailors. The Olipa Lighthouse helps them navigate the sea.
The Olipa Lighthouse marks maritime routes. It shines through the Veliki Vratnik passage. This passage lies between Olipa and Tajan. The Olipa Lighthouse also watches over the Mali Vratnik. This passage runs between Olipa and Peljesac.

Olipa is the largest island in its group. It is also the most populated. Yet, it maintains an aura of untouched wilderness. The island offers stunning views.
Picture yourself on the northwest side of Olipa. You discover a charming bay. Two little houses dot the landscape. It is a welcoming sight for weary travelers.
Approaching this bay is easy. You can come from the northeast through the Stronski Kanal. Or from the southwest through the Mali Vratnik. There is no danger. You can drop anchor in 5 to 8 meters of water. The west coast of the bay is ideal. But be aware that this bay is open to the Bora wind.
The waters around Olipa hide secrets. Submarine cables crisscross the seabed. They connect the islands and islets.
Close to Olipa lies Otoc Jakljan. A channel called Veliki Vratnik runs between them. A strong current flows westward through this channel.
Just southeast of Olipa lies the small island of Ruda. It’s only half a mile from Olipa’s northeast tip. Near Olipa’s northwest end, you’ll find Misnjaka. This tiny islet rises 13 meters above the sea.
