Established in 2020 Jakarta Global University boasts a rich history. Its origins trace back to 1972 with the founding of the Jakarta Technology College STTJ. STTJ gained registered status in 1974. In 2019 it transformed into the Jakarta Institute of Technology and Health ITKJ. Simultaneously in 1995 the Penguji School of Economics and Business STIE Penguji was established. JGU as we know it today emerged from the merger of ITKJ and STIE Penguji.
