Our Tampines Hub replaced the former Tampines Stadium. It also replaced the Tampines Sports Hall and Tampines Swimming Complex. The Housing and Development Board Tampines Branch Office and Tampines Regional Library are also at the Hub. All these facilities are now under one roof.
The idea for Our Tampines Hub began with feedback from 15000 residents. These residents lived in the vicinity. Their input shaped the Hub’s design and offerings. Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong officially opened it on August 6 2017.
Before Our Tampines Hub stood here the Tampines Stadium and Tampines Sports Hall. They opened in December 1989. The adjacent Tampines Swimming Complex opened at the same time. Tampines Stadium was also the home of Tampines Rovers. This is a Singapore Premier League club.
The construction of Our Tampines Hub reflects a commitment to sustainability. It has earned BCA’s Green Mark Platinum certification. Solar panels are everywhere. There is also water catchment and green walls. An Eco-Digester Centre converts food waste. It turns it into non-potable water and fertilizer.
Our Tampines Hub is more than just a building. It’s a vibrant ecosystem. It caters to the needs of over 225000 Tampines residents. It offers more than 30 community facilities. These include sports, cultural, civic, and lifestyle options.
Consider the Town Square. It’s a 5100-seater stadium with a FIFA-endorsed football pitch. Tampines Rovers returned here in July 2017. They had been away for six years. They celebrated their return by winning their first match back.
The Public Services Centre is very helpful. Residents can access government services easily. Six agencies are available here. These agencies offer assistance at one convenient location.
The Hub also embraces Smart Nation initiatives. Intelligent queue management ensures that everyone gets attended to fast. The Hub has cashless kiosks. Interactive way-finding helps visitors navigate the space.
Our Tampines Hub is also the home of the Tampines Kindness Movement. This movement promotes graciousness towards neighbors. It encourages care for the environment. This creates a kinder culture.
