Completed in 2005, Musholla Al Bakri was officially inaugurated by KH Abdullah Gymnastiar. Though relatively new, it quickly became a focal point for Islamic activities in the Rasuna Said area. The mosque is three stories tall. A large minaret marks its presence.
Note the building’s exterior. Its design incorporates Malay architectural nuances. These design choices adhere to Islamic principles. The dominant color is cream. It creates a sense of calm. A single large minaret rises approximately 30 meters.
Inside, the Musholla Al Bakri features a prayer hall on the second floor. It is simple. It is elegant. Calligraphy adorns the central ceiling. Four pillars support the structure.
On the first floor you will find multipurpose rooms. There are ablution areas, restrooms and administrative offices. Storage and a childcare facility are here too.
The plaza outside holds another surprise. Eighteen open umbrellas dot the space. They resemble those at Masjid Nabawi but are much smaller.
Every Monday morning, people gather for religious studies. These sessions attract about 20 women eager to deepen their knowledge. The mosque hosts diverse activities. There are recitations and seminars. Educational programs and social events take place here as well. These events aim to strengthen faith and promote a strong work ethic.
The Musholla Al Bakri actively engages in social responsibility. Every three months it organizes blood donation drives. During Islamic holidays, the mosque provides support to orphans and distributes affordable groceries. Circumcision ceremonies and World Asthma Day commemorations also take place here.
This mosque can accommodate up to 1.000 worshipers. It features a main hall, library, meeting room and secretariat. The second and third floors serve as prayer spaces. A mihrab and khatib waiting area are included. Women can pray in a designated area behind a hijab screen.
The building covers 3,200 square meters of land owned by the Jakarta Provincial Government. The architects chose economical construction materials. This ensures aesthetic appeal and structural integrity.
