The scent of aged cedarwood hangs heavy in the air. Welcome to La Boiserie. This isn’t just any building. This is a multi-functional event center a testament to innovative architecture.

La Boiserie in Mazan Provence is more than just a hall. It’s a story woven from wood and straw. Imagine a structure designed to hold 1000 people. Picture its harmonious blend with the surrounding vineyards. Its silhouette echoes the majestic Mount Ventoux.

Designed by DE-SO Architectes this marvel was completed in 2013. It’s a unique example of timber and straw-bale construction. The architects cleverly split the program into two volumes. This softens its impact on the landscape. The Entry Pavilion a low horizontal structure mirrors local dry-stone walls. It opens invitingly to the landscape.

Behind it rises the main hall. A 12-meter inclined cedar facade shades the plastered walls. This angled timber skin a reference to Mount Ventoux’s slopes creates a striking silhouette. At night La Boiserie transforms. It glows like a lantern the light spilling between the double facade.

Inside the concert hall’s unique interior reflects the exterior. The rhythm of the timber slats continues on the walls and ceiling. The exterior wood is essentially turned inside-out. This creates a majestic volume. This wooden ambiance evokes a traditional French community hall. It’s perfect for various configurations. Folding bleachers allow for flexible seating. Natural light floods in or it can be completely shaded.

The wood and straw-bale insulation create a versatile acoustic environment. The air is infused with the unmistakable scent of timber. It’s a sensory experience that lingers long after you leave La Boiserie. More than a building it’s a testament to sustainable design and harmonious integration with nature. A unique space where history and modernity converge. It’s a place where memories are made.
