What echoes through the sanctuary of Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church? Not just hymns and sermons, but whispers of resilience and growth. Right here, at Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church, a small group of just five people began their journey of faith. Initially a humble home Bible study in Barangay Addition Hills, Mandaluyong City, the group steadily expanded, drawing in more than 20 members from Mandaluyong and San Juan. Many attendees shared a common thread, being alumni of Jubilee Christian Academy. Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church’s journey has been one of transitions and expansions. The Bible study group relocated to Greenhills East along with the Cheng family. An outreach program began with a Saturday Greenhills Bible Club for children, followed by Christmas and summer Vacation Bible Schools. This original Bible study group, now in its 17th year, continues to be a cornerstone of the church’s teachings. In 1994, this group sought recognition as a gospel point. The San Juan Outreach merged with the Mandaluyong Jubilee Gospel Point in early 1997. Later that year, in July, the Mandaluyong Jubilee Gospel Point officially became a daughter church. Renamed the Mandaluyong Jubilee Gospel Center, it held a simple afternoon service at Green Valley Country Club. After a period of relocating, eventually settling in Pasig City, the name was simplified to Jubilee Gospel Center. Another significant turning point occurred in September 2005 when the Gospel Center leaders petitioned for independence from the mother church. This request was granted by the Jubilee Evangelical Church in November, paving the way for an inaugural service and the installation of Pastor Gilbert MacAdam. In April 2006, they received recognition from the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit religious organization, and on July 30, 2006, Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church was formally inaugurated. Pastor Gilbert McAdam was installed as the first Resident Pastor at Wack Wack Golf & Country Club in Mandaluyong City. Today, Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church has grown to a membership of 60 and continues to thrive. The church is a testament to the power of faith and community. If you’re curious to learn more, you can attend a service or contact them at calvaryreformedph@gmail.com. They have a rich schedule of services and activities: Sunday school, worship, Bible study, prayer meetings. The church’s name, Calvary, reminds us of the sacrifice and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the very heart of their message. The term “Reformed” reflects their historical roots and theological commitment. “Evangelical” highlights their mission to share the Gospel. Here at Calvary Reformed Evangelical Church, the echoes of the past resonate with the vitality of the present, inviting all who seek a deeper connection with their faith.
