Deep within the heart of Quito, La Concepción whispers tales of angels and prophecies. La Concepción isn’t just a church. It’s a vessel carrying echoes of divine intervention and forewarnings of future turmoil. In 1611, an artist named Francisco del Castillo was commissioned to sculpt an image of Our Lady of Good Success for La Concepción. He toiled diligently, but the Virgin’s face remained unfinished. He left to find the perfect paints. Upon his return, he found the statue miraculously completed, radiating an ethereal glow. He swore it was the work of angels, a testament to the divine power residing within La Concepción. Our Lady of Good Success, as the statue is known, holds a crozier and keys, symbolizing her role as the protector and Abbess of the convent. Her image stands as a beacon of hope, watching over her devoted followers. But La Concepción holds more than just artistic miracles. Mother Mariana de Jesús Torres, a Conceptionist nun residing in the convent, received numerous apparitions from the Virgin Mary. These encounters revealed chilling prophecies for the 20th century. Our Lady foretold a decline in faith, a rise in impurity, and the reign of Satan through Masonic sects. She warned of the desecration of sacraments and the persecution of the Church. La Concepción thus became a repository of these divine warnings, a reminder of the spiritual battles to come. Despite the somber prophecies, Our Lady of Good Success assured Mother Mariana of her continued protection. She proclaimed that devotion to her would be a “lightning rod” against divine justice, a source of hope in times of tribulation. La Concepción stands today as a testament to these events. It is a place where the whispers of angels intertwine with the weight of prophecies. It is a sacred space where faith and history converge. The very air within La Concepción seems to vibrate with the echoes of Mother Mariana’s conversations with the divine. It is a place where visitors can reflect on the enduring power of faith. Remember, La Concepción is more than just a church; it is a sanctuary of hope, a testament to divine intervention, and a reminder of the importance of spiritual vigilance.
