“Stillness.” Can you imagine finding it in Jakarta? Yet, here, at Musholla At-Taubah, it waits. This unassuming place of worship offers solace from the city’s relentless pace.

Musholla At-Taubah stands as a testament to faith. It offers a quiet space for reflection amidst the urban sprawl. Open 24/7, it welcomes all seeking connection. This constant availability provides a sanctuary. People can come any time of day or night.

Two different Musholla At-Taubah locations can be found in Jakarta. One is located in East Jakarta. The address is Gg. E. Patik I Jl. Kp. Ciracas I No.70, RT.1/RW.2, Ciracas, Kec. Ciracas, Kota Jakarta Timur, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 13740. The other one can be found in South Jakarta. Its address is Jl. Swadaya 1 No.6 9, RT.6/RW.10, Pejaten Timur, Ps. Minggu, Kota Jakarta Selatan, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta 12510.

Let’s delve into the story of another Masjid At Taubah in Jakarta. This one is known as Masjid Jami At-Taubah. This historic mosque dates back to 1923. It started as a small musholla. Over time, it grew into a larger mosque. Local residents and donors supported its construction. It is located in Rawajati, Pancoran, South Jakarta. Its address is Jalan Rawajati Timur II No.70 RT 03/RW 08. The mosque stands near the Ciliwung River.

Masjid Jami At-Taubah holds significant historical value. Habib Abdullah Ja’far Al Haddad built it in the 18th century. He was the great-grandfather of Habib Kuncung. Originally, only two graves existed here. These were family members. More graves were added over time. They all belonged to descendants of the mosque’s founder. This includes Habib Kuncung.

Habib Kuncung holds a special place in the hearts of many Muslims. He was born in Hadramaut, Yemen. He arrived in Betawi and used Masjid At Taubah to spread Islamic teachings. People believed Habib Kuncung possessed extraordinary abilities. He was known as an ahli darkah. This means he appeared when people needed him most.

Visitors come to Masjid Jami At Taubah for prayer and to visit Habib Kuncung’s tomb. The tomb is part of the Masjid Jami At Taubah complex. Religious activities are often held here.

Habib Kuncung, or Habib Ahmad bin Alwi al-Haddad, was known for his karomah. His life story serves as an inspiration. Born in 1838, he traveled extensively for trade and study. He learned from scholars in various countries. People gave him the nickname “Kuncung” because of the cone-shaped Bugis cap he wore.

One of Habib Kuncung’s notable abilities was his capacity to be in multiple places simultaneously. Despite declining an invitation to Pekalongan, he was already there upon the group’s arrival. Habib Kuncung passed away in 1926 at the age of 93. His tomb remains a popular pilgrimage site.
