Huang has been a member since 2012. He bought a boat for family cruising and fishing then. He has an even longer association with the yacht club. He even hosted his wedding here in 2008. Bucklands Beach Yacht Club is a family yacht club. It is the second largest yacht club in New Zealand.

Refueling facilities are also available.
Bucklands Beach Yacht Club invests in J24 Keelboats. It gives young sailors the opportunity to advance their skills. An Optimist Training School teaches many youngsters basic sailing skills. Advanced coaching in competition sailing has shown results in National Contests.
