Let’s wander together a bit. Imagine yourself parking at the Bourgarie car park. From there you head towards the end of the hamlet. Just past the cross, you take the path to the right. It slopes gently down towards the ledge.
As you descend this path, you will walk along the ledge. You will eventually reach the cirque known as the Bout du Monde. At the entrance, you will see a fountain built against the cliff face. Here on the Sentier du Bas Boulard, you must ignore the path that descends to the right. Continue south to the Baus del Biel.
The Sentier du Bas Boulard now runs along a large cliff. Vultures nest in this impressive rock face. Before you the Z-shaped fault of the Tarn Canyon stands out clearly. To the right on the slopes of Sauveterre, you can see the cave hamlets of Eglazines and Saint-Marcellin.
After continuing on the Sentier du Bas Boulard, you reach a fork at the foot of the Cinglegros rock. Here, you will turn left. You then leave the path along the ridge. You will see views of Sauveterre, the Rocher de Capluc and the Causse Noir. The path curves to the left. You must leave another path branching off to the right. You then descend towards the wooded area.
You now leave a path to the right. You continue down the slope to reach an intersection. On the Sentier du Bas Boulard, you now turn left. You proceed north to Volcégur. This place has been abandoned since 1923.
You then continue on the Sentier du Bas Boulard until you reach a fork. Then you take a left turn to return to Bourgarie. This takes you back to the car park where you started.
