Waiheke Island has a fascinating history. Mu0101ori settled here long ago. Various tribes have called Waiheke home. Waiheke Island was the site of battles. These battles occurred between Ngu0101ti Pu0101oa and Ngu0101puhi. In the 1790s, ships were repaired on Waiheke Island.

In the late 1800s, Waiheke became a seaside resort. Land subdivisions increased after that.
