Emerging from Jean Marais’s imagination, the Statue Siaram stands before you. It’s a mythical bronze creation, nestled at the entrance to the Le Nôtre walkway. The Statue Siaram embodies the very essence of L’Isle-Adam. It represents air, water, and the forest. Notice the water flowing from the statue’s base. It cascades down the pedestal and into a bowl, creating a tranquil fountain. The name “Siaram” itself is a clever anagram of “Marais,” honoring its creator. This captivating sculpture was a gift to the town from Senator-Mayor Michel Poniatowski. It was inaugurated on November 8, 1992, with Jean Marais himself in attendance. Marais described the creation process as a daring dream. He said Siaram, protector of L’Isle-Adam and nature, was born almost against his will. He felt guided by a strange angel. The statue sits on a concrete pedestal adorned with stoneware, adding to its unique charm. The statue is located near the Maison de L’Isle-Adam, just opposite Manchez Park. The esplanade where it stands is now named after Jean Marais.
