Journey back to 1067. A small settlement nestled near Bonn, Germany, first appears in recorded history as Alvetra. This is the genesis of Alfter, a place whose name has evolved over the centuries, echoing its rich and layered past. Alfter sits on the southern edge of the Vorgebirge, a low mountain range. It’s a location that has seen generations come and go, from the Neolithic era to the Franks and Romans. Alfter isn’t a city.
