Thirteen individuals. That’s how it began. In 2009 a small group founded the Kirche für Bonn. Their vision a vibrant community of faith. A place where people could grow in their love for God and each other. This wasn’t just a building. It was a living testament to belief.
The Kirche für Bonn quickly expanded. It became one of the largest congregations within the Bund Freier evangelischer Gemeinden. A network of free evangelical churches across Germany. This network boasts around 500 churches and over 43000 members. The Kirche für Bonn plays a significant part in this large family.
For several years services were held in various locations. In 2013 this all changed. The church acquired a building in Bonn Buschdorf. This marked a pivotal moment in their history. Their headquarters and worship space finally had a permanent home. It is now being gradually transformed into a community and neighborhood center.
Growth continued. Attendance soared. Soon a second Sunday service was necessary. This was implemented in 2015 to accommodate the ever-increasing number of worshippers. The Kirche für Bonn’s commitment extended beyond Sunday services. It offers a comprehensive range of activities. These range from children’s programs like CITYLIGHT. CITYLIGHT runs parallel to the main services. There’s also SPATZENNEST a parent-child group. And for older children a midweek teen and youth group.
The Kirche für Bonn’s story is one of growth. It’s a tale of community building. It’s a commitment to faith expressed through both large-scale worship and small intimate gatherings. A place where everyone is welcome. Whether you are a devout Christian or simply curious this church opens its doors to all. It invites you to experience a vibrant and growing community of faith. The Kirche für Bonn is more than just a place of worship. It’s a beacon of hope and community in the heart of Bonn. A place where people gather to grow and to serve. A place you are invited to discover.
