“De pru00e8s on se comprend mieux” This simple slogan perfectly encapsulates the spirit of France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes. Right here in Lyon we stand before its iconic building. This isn’t just a television station. It’s a portal to the region’s history and a window into its heart.

France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes boasts a rich history. Its journey began in 1954. Mayor u00c9douard Herriot and Minister Henri Ulver inaugurated a small television studio in Villeurbanne. Miss France even graced the event. This marked the birth of Tu00e9lu00e9-Lyon. It was the fourth local television station. Its broadcasts reached just 1500 Lyonnais equipped with television sets. They experienced the magic of local images. The station used the Fourviu00e8re metal tower as a transmitter.

The station’s influence grew. From 1958 it contributed to the national network. It aired Dimanche en France. This program was filmed in black and white. It ran from 12:30 to 1pm. The daily Lyon television news began in 1963. In 1964 it was rebranded as Rhu00f4ne-Alpes Actualitu00e9s. This was a deliberate political move to counter regional press considered hostile to the Gaullist government. News became central to its programming.

In 1968 it moved to its current location in the Part-Dieu district. This impressive building houses its regional news office. It also houses television and radio production. It is home to Radio-France’s local station. This central location facilitated the production of programs for the new third national channel in 1972.

Throughout the years France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes evolved. It became FR3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes Auvergne. It later became France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes Auvergne. This change reflects the evolving media landscape. The introduction of local editions in 1999 further expanded its reach. These covered Lyon Saint-u00c9tienne and Grenoble. The station also had offices in several departments including Ain Loire and Dru00f4me.

The station remained a pivotal institution. It continued to offer regional news and programming. It had local editions of 12/13 and 19/20 news. It also produced magazines like Declik and Gou00fbtez voir. Even the popular series Louis la Brocante was filmed locally using its production facilities. France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes produced news and entertainment. They served the community for years.

Today France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes continues its mission. It broadcasts regional news and programming. Its programs are available via terrestrial television cable and satellite. Its powerful transmitters reach beyond the regional borders into Switzerland. This makes it a beacon not just for Lyon but for the entire region. France 3 Rhu00f4ne-Alpes stands as a testament to the power of local television. It shows how a regional station can connect communities and tell stories that matter.
