Sacred Heart Primary School opened its doors in 1934. Six Sisters of the Institute of Our Lady of the Missions welcomed 59 students into a parish hall. It was a humble beginning for what would become a cornerstone of the Croydon community.

The school quickly outgrew its initial space. By 1936 more than 260 students needed room to learn. The school acquired its current land. The growth continued. By 1951 over 600 children attended. A third storey was added to the building. The junior school in Mora Avenue was completed in 1976.

Imagine the bustling classrooms the laughter of hundreds of children echoing through these halls for decades. The Sisters ran the school until 1982. Then lay staff took over. The school continues to thrive under their care.

Major renovations took place in 1987. A new technology and library area was added in 2006. The convent which once stood on the site was replaced with modern facilities. An elevator was installed in 2010 making the three-storey building more accessible.

In 2021 a new kindergarten opened in Mora Avenue. It filled a need in the community after another kindergarten closed. The kindergarten shares a close connection with the school. Children benefit from the existing resources and environment.
