Go Broncos Go. That’s the rallying cry you’ll hear echoing across the grounds of Legacy High School. Right here before you stands a testament to Mansfield’s growth a vibrant school built upon the legendary site of the Kowbell Indoor Rodeo.

Legacy High School opened its doors in August 2007. It became Mansfield ISD’s fourth high school. The school’s location holds a unique history. It sits on the land where cowboys once gathered for Saturday night rodeos at the Kowbell. William H Hogg opened the Kowbell Indoor Rodeo in 1959. The rodeo was a popular local attraction. It even featured a canvas roof for protection from bad weather.

The Kowbell Rodeo closed in 2004. The property was then sold to MISD. Mansfield’s rapid population growth led to the decision to build a new high school. The school’s name and mascot were chosen carefully. The committee selected “Legacy” for its perfect fit with the school’s unique history. The “Broncos” mascot followed perfectly. Red and black were chosen as the school colors in June 2006. The school opened its doors to over 2100 students on August 27 2007.

Today Legacy High School thrives. It boasts a dedicated faculty and a diverse student body. The school’s motto “We are Bronco Nation. We will Leave a Legacy” inspires students to excel. They aim for academic success and personal growth. Many notable alumni have gone on to achieve success in various fields including professional sports. Among these are MLB pitcher Tejay Antone and NFL players Josh Doctson and Tevin Mitchel. The school’s success story continues to be written. It’s a place where students leave their mark not just on the school but on the world beyond.

So take a moment. Absorb the energy of this impressive school. It’s more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a legacy of learning. It’s a testament to a community’s growth and pride. It’s a place where dreams take flight and futures are shaped. Remember the spirit of the Kowbell Rodeo. Carry that spirit forward as you continue your exploration of Mansfield. Go Broncos.
