Over 230 years old she stands. The Pillnitzer Kamelie a majestic Camellia japonica. This is no ordinary tree. It’s one of Europe’s oldest camellias. Legend whispers of its journey. Carl Peter Thunberg supposedly brought it from Kyoto to Kew Gardens in 1776. But that story is now questioned. Regardless of its origin the Pillnitzer Kamelie found its home in Dresden in 1801.
