Masjid Jami At-Taufiq

“A mosque reborn,” whispered an elderly man beside me, his eyes reflecting the sun glinting off the newly renovated Masjid Jami At-Taufiq. Masjid Jami At-Taufiq, located on Jalan Kaja in Kelapa Dua Wetan, Ciracas, Jakarta Timur, isn’t just a new structure. It’s a testament to community spirit and resilience. Originally built in 1983 and inaugurated by Deputy Governor Edy Nalapraya in 1985, time and the elements took their toll. By 2017, Masjid Jami At-Taufiq was showing its age, prompting a much-needed reconstruction. The cornerstone for the new building was laid on December 1, 2017. This marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. The community rallied together, raising an astounding Rp 6 billion. Donations poured in, not just from the immediate RW 11 neighborhood, but also from beyond, adding another Rp 500 million to the fund. This collective effort resulted in a beautiful two-story mosque, costing Rp 6.5 billion and sitting on 1,250 square meters of wakaf land. The Masjid Jami At-Taufiq project was finally completed in 2020. The pandemic delayed the official inauguration ceremony, which was eventually held on August 19, 2022. Governor Anies Baswedan, along with city officials and community leaders, presided over the event, marking a joyous occasion for everyone involved. Masjid Jami At-Taufiq stands as a beacon of faith, rebuilt by the very hands of those who cherish it most. It serves as a powerful reminder of the enduring strength and devotion of the community it serves.
