Minister of Religion Lukman Hakim Saifuddin played a key role. He officially opened Vihara Maha Dharma Budi in 2015. The ceremony included a momentous signing of the foundation stone. Prominent figures attended. Among them were Shinta Nuriyah wife of the former president Gus Dur. Also present was Bhiksu Cing Xin Mahasthavira president of the World Buddhist Chinese Sangha Council.
