Considering a trip to Rush Green? This suburban area in Romford has much to offer. Rush Green straddles the boundary of Barking and Dagenham and Havering. It sits 13.5 miles east-northeast of Charing Cross.

Rush Green’s story dates back centuries. The hamlet was first noted in 1651. Until the late 19th century, it remained a hub of small farms. Residential development began with the Birkbeck estate in 1885. West Road, Wolseley Road, Grosvenor Road and Birkbeck Road formed this estate.

Today, Rush Green is a vibrant community. It’s located at the crossroads of Rush Green Road and Dagenham Road. You will find shops and businesses clustered around this junction. Further south along Dagenham Road, you’ll find Barking and Dagenham College. Rush Green Library is also nearby. Once, Rush Green Hospital stood here. It was the main maternity unit for this part of London. Now, a housing estate occupies its place.

Rush Green has a diverse population. Roughly 70% of residents are White British. Approximately 10% are Asian and 10% are Black.

Getting around Rush Green is easy. Dagenham East is the nearest tube station. Romford provides the closest railway station.

Sports fans might know Rush Green for another reason. Since December 2015, it has been the training ground for West Ham United F.C.. The club moved here from Chadwell Heath. The women’s team also play their home matches in Rush Green.
