Nestled in Shanghai, China, the China Guigu Science Park, also known as the CaoHeJing Guigu Creative Headquarters, is a fascinating blend of innovation and architectural marvel. This isn’t just another office complex. It’s a vibrant hub designed to cultivate cutting-edge technology. The China Guigu Science Park sits on the edge of the Shanghai Caohejing Hi-Tech Park. This larger park is a sprawling 14.5 square kilometer development zone. It’s home to approximately 1,200 high-tech companies, both domestic and international. The China Guigu Science Park plays a pivotal role within this larger ecosystem. It serves as a platform for innovation, supporting and nurturing high-tech firms. It connects local and overseas university graduates with enterprises. The park acts as an accelerator for new technology in China. The architecture itself is a statement. Three distinct volumes are separated by two landscaped terraces. These terraces offer shared meeting spaces and support functions, fostering collaboration and connection. The upper two volumes house divisible incubator studio spaces. This design provides flexibility for growing businesses. The lower volume contains the main lobby, exhibition and event space, and a coffee bar. The staggered arrangement of these volumes creates a dynamic interplay of light and shadow. It offers both exposed and shaded external areas, perfect for Shanghai’s varied weather. These outdoor spaces provide occupants with a direct connection to greenery year-round. The China Guigu Science Park represents a unique partnership. It is the third collaboration between Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and CaoHeJing. This project underscores a commitment to fostering innovation and technological advancement in the region.
