Beneath the blazing Ghanaian sun stands the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. Have you ever wondered what makes this stadium more than just concrete and steel? This multi-use stadium is located in Cape Coast in the Central Region of Ghana. It is a place where dreams are chased and sporting history is written.

The Cape Coast Sports Stadium officially opened its doors on May 3, 2016. The stadium is home to the Ebusua Dwarfs. The stadium also welcomes the Lady Strikers and Ghana National Football Team. With a capacity of 15,000 people, the stadium pulsates with the energy of passionate fans.

China aided in the construction of the Cape Coast Sports Stadium. The stadium’s design came from the China IPPR International Engineering Corporation. Architect Zhou Jun led the design.

Beyond the football pitch, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium offers various facilities. There is a 300-car parking area for visitors. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy two basketball fields. A handball court and a tennis court are also available. An indoor facility accommodates various indoor games. The stadium complex also features a 22-room hostel. A canteen offers refreshments. There is also a kitchen, a fire-fighting room, and storage rooms.

Since its opening in 2016, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium has hosted many events. It has successfully managed national events for Ghana. It also held large-scale international sporting events for West Africa and Africa.

Chinese experts trained local technicians to maintain the stadium’s systems. These systems include monitoring, sound, display, and lighting. A technician said he learned a lot of skills with the help of his Chinese friends. He proudly ensures the monitoring system works well before each event.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, Chinese experts stayed to train local technicians. Together, they maintained the stadium’s hardware and software.

The Cape Coast Sports Stadium is more than just a venue. It symbolizes Ghana’s sporting ambitions. It embodies the hard work and collaboration between Ghana and China.
