Érd was once Europe’s largest village. Now, it is a rapidly growing city near Budapest. The imposing church building is a short distance from the city center. It marks a significant presence in the community.
In 1965 the Érdi Gyülekezet celebrated a momentous occasion. It was the dedication of their house of worship. The sun shone brightly that day. It seemed to join in the festivities. The congregation had long awaited this moment. They were eager to have their own dedicated space.
The church was well-suited to its purpose. It had a simple yet elegant design. The building’s dimensions were 13 m2 x 6 m2. A sign on the facade identified it. It showed that this was not an ordinary building. Inside, there was an 80-seat sanctuary. There was also a smaller meeting room and a foyer. A veranda completed the structure.
On that special day in 1965, people came from near and far. They gathered to celebrate the dedication. Visitors arrived from Lovasberény, Ercsi, Pálfa, and Budapest. The Üllői Street choir added to the joyous atmosphere. They came to make the day memorable.
