Considering the Atlanta Centre’s towering presence, what tales do its walls hold?
We’re standing before the Atlanta Centre. It is an office skyscraper. It rises high above San Juan in Metro Manila. Completed in 2001, it proudly holds the title of the city’s tallest building. Its architectural spire reaches 179 meters.
Atlanta Land Corporation developed the Atlanta Centre. This building has 35 floors above ground. It includes a 10-level parking area. Six Otis elevators efficiently serve the building’s occupants. The Atlanta Centre also features advanced communication networks. A Building Management System or BMS ensures smooth operations.
The Atlanta Centre is located on Annapolis Street. It sits comfortably within the Greenhills area. The building is a short walk from the Greenhills Shopping Center. This makes it a prime location for businesses and commerce.
However, the Atlanta Centre holds a darker history too. In 2001, the body of Nida Blanca was discovered in the building’s parking area. She was a well-known Filipino actress. This tragic event forever marked the Atlanta Centre.
In 2008, fire struck the Atlanta Centre. It broke out on the 7th floor. Fortunately, no one was injured. Firefighters broke through the curtain walls. This was done to vent the trapped smoke.
Today, the Atlanta Centre continues to be a prominent landmark. It offers spaces for lease. These include telecom antennas, radio racks and commercial units. The Atlanta Centre stands as a testament to progress. It has also witnessed moments of tragedy and resilience. It remains an integral part of San Juan’s skyline.
