Established in 2010 the Ghousia Islamic Center initially held services in a small two-story house. This modest beginning belied the growing spiritual needs of the community. The Ghousia Islamic Center served as a vital hub for Muslims in Harvey and beyond. It offered daily prayers religious education and social interaction. The center quickly outgrew its initial space. This led to a search for a larger facility.
The Ghousia Islamic Center’s history actually started earlier in 2005. Monthly gatherings commemorating Gyarwih Sharif took place in private homes. These gatherings laid the groundwork for the center’s establishment. Years of consistent meetings showed the community’s growing desire for a dedicated space. This eventually resulted in the establishment of a small prayer hall. This hall was located in a basement on Broadway Avenue Harvey in 2011. This provided a permanent space for daily prayers and Jummah services. A madrasa for children was also added.
The Ghousia Islamic Center’s popularity grew. After five years Jumaah prayers became overcrowded. This emphasized the pressing need for a larger more suitable location. The center provides a place for spiritual rejuvenation. The Ghousia Islamic Center offers Quran classes. It also hosts events like Tafseer-Ul-Quran and Zikr-E-Ilahi.
