What if these walls could talk? The Orange Vélodrome is more than just concrete and steel. It is a living testament to Marseille’s passion for sport.

Welcome to the Orange Vélodrome. It is the home of Olympique de Marseille. It stands as France’s largest soccer stadium with 67000 seats. But its story stretches far beyond.

In the 1920s Marseille envisioned a grand stadium. Gabriel Vallerian proposed the idea in 1930. Hosting the 1938 World Cup accelerated the project. Construction began in 1935. The Orange Vélodrome opened in 1937. Cyclists inaugurated it first. Then Olympique de Marseille played against Torino. Marseille won 2-1. Zermani scored the first goal.

Initially some fans preferred Stade de l’Huveaune. They saw the Orange Vélodrome as the city’s stadium not the club’s. Yet the Orange Vélodrome became a symbol of Marseille.

Over the years the Orange Vélodrome has undergone many renovations. These upgrades prepared it for Euro 1984. Also the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2016. Today it boasts modern facilities and a FIFA 5-star label. It can even host a UEFA Champions League final.

The stadium’s design ensures every seat offers great visibility. The atmosphere is always electric. Songs from the stands resonate deeply.

For a unique experience explore the VIP areas. There are 5000 VIP seats. Also find 57 boxes and 8500 square meters of lounges. Businesses can entertain clients and reward employees here.

The Table des Légendes offers a panoramic view. Guests can enjoy a gastronomic buffet. They can also meet former players. The “Comptoir M” buffets showcase Mediterranean cuisine.

Interestingly the Orange Vélodrome has served different purposes. Originally it hosted cycling track events. That is how it got its name. The Tour de France finished here ten times. It also hosted world track cycling championships. Other sports included athletics boxing gymnastics and rugby.

In 2016 the stadium was renamed Orange Vélodrome. This followed a naming rights deal with Orange.

To experience the Orange Vélodrome fully take a guided tour. Visit the dressing rooms the press room and the players’ tunnel. Feel the energy. Imagine the roar of the crowd.

The Orange Vélodrome is more than a stadium. It is a symbol of Marseille’s spirit. It is a place where memories are made. It is where legends are born.
