Tucked away in Niestetal, a quiet town near Kassel, lies Werner Bosch Orgelbau. It’s not just a workshop. It’s a legacy. Werner Bosch, the founder, started his journey in the aftermath of World War II. He returned from captivity and began repairing organs in a humble space adjacent to a local pub. This marked the beginning of Werner Bosch Orgelbau in 1945. By 1946, Werner Bosch Orgelbau had already produced its first new organ. Werner’s dedication led him to pass his master craftsman exam in 1947. Orders surged, and the small workshop soon became too cramped for the growing team. The company expanded to a new workshop in Kassel with 34 employees by 1951. Werner Bosch Orgelbau reached a milestone in 1956 with its 100th organ, installed in the evangelical church of Leimsfeld. The growth continued. Opus 200 followed in 1959, opus 300 in 1963, and the 500th organ was built in St. Louis, USA, in 1969. The company continued its expansion. In 1954, Bosch acquired land in Sandershausen and relocated the workshop and offices there in 1955. The building underwent several expansions. In 1979, a showroom was added, designed to host small concerts. Werner Bosch Orgelbau’s creations spread far beyond Germany. By 1987, opus 800 found its home in the Catholic Church of Morges, Switzerland, and by 1999, opus 900 graced the Fujimicho Church in Tokyo. Over the years, Werner Bosch Orgelbau has crafted instruments for 26 countries, notably the USA, Japan, Korea, Switzerland, and Scandinavia. The company has always valued craftsmanship and personalized creations. They focus on building smaller organs and replicating historical models, like the Regal, Portativ, and Positiv. Mass production was never their focus. This allowed Werner Bosch Orgelbau to meet each client’s specific needs and desires. The legacy of Werner Bosch lives on through the craftsmanship and dedication of his successors, continuing to create musical masterpieces that resonate worldwide.
