“Tremendous value bikes” is not just a slogan here at Coney Hall Cycle Works. It is a mission. This shop has become a haven for cyclists in West Wickham and beyond. Almost every rider in the area has visited Coney Hall Cycle Works.
Coney Hall Cycle Works opened its doors in November 2013. It sells new and secondhand bicycles plus accessories. A fully equipped workshop carries out repairs and servicing. But the story of Coney Hall Cycle Works started before that.
In 2011, Erik had a vision. He wanted to open a cycle shop in South East London. Erik had previous success as a pro rider and cycle shop owner in New Zealand. He needed a business partner. He was introduced to someone by members of the Catford Cycling Club. That someone had spent 40 years in the legal profession. He mainly dealt with property disputes. He joined Catford Cycling Club in 2008. He became an active member. He also took on committee roles.
Erik’s new business partner became Membership Secretary. He organized the club’s prestigious annual event called the Hell of the Ashdown. He was also a team car driver with the club’s Elite Racing Team Catford Equipe Banks. Together, Erik and his partner found the right premises in Coney Hall.
Erik’s passion for bikes runs deep. From exploring his dad’s farm at age six. To racing in Europe. To starting his own bike shop at 22 in New Zealand. To cycle-touring the world. He has worked in bike shops in four countries. Now he has established Coney Hall Cycle Works. He can help you with almost anything cycling-related.
