Ever imagine a shopping mall changing its name more times than you change your socks? Boulevard Rio Shopping, right here in Vila Isabel, has quite the identity crisis. It started life as Shopping Iguatemi. Then it became Boulevard Rio. Now it’s Boulevard Shopping. This place has more name changes than a chameleon in a rainbow factory. Boulevard Rio Shopping just can’t seem to settle on a moniker. But behind the name game is a story of reinvention. In 2017, around its 21st birthday, the mall underwent a massive R$15.5 million transformation. They launched a new brand, a snazzy food court called Varanda Boulevard, and revitalized everything. The new logo, inspired by friendship, represents the connection with the community. They even added an Outback Steakhouse with unique decor. Other restaurants like Oliva, O Bom Galeto, and the Rio exclusive Bullguer joined the party. Exclusive brands flocked to Boulevard Rio Shopping like fashionistas to a sample sale. Riachuelo opened its most modern concept store. A massive Polo Wear megastore appeared. Zinzane, Universo Kids, and Be Mine added to the mix. Even the facade, restrooms, and baby changing area got a makeover. Ancar Ivanhoe, the mall’s owner, has invested a total of R$35 million since taking over. Talk about a glow-up. Boulevard Rio Shopping wanted to be more than just a place to shop. They aimed to become a community hub, a place where friends and families gather. Their motto, “The same friends, a new story,” captures that sentiment perfectly. They’re betting on a 15% sales increase and a 10% boost in foot traffic thanks to these changes. So, the next time you’re in Vila Isabel, stop by Boulevard Rio Shopping. It’s more than a mall; it’s a phoenix, constantly rising from the ashes of its former names. Who knows what it’ll be called next year, but one thing’s for sure, it’s always evolving.
