“Nothing is impossible” is not just a slogan. It’s the heartbeat of Chicago Math and Science Academy.

Founded in 2004, Chicago Math and Science Academy stands as a beacon of STEM education. It is located in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. The academy serves students in grades 6 through 12.

Chicago Math and Science Academy is authorized by Chicago Public Schools. For eight consecutive years, it has been rated as a Level 1 or Level 1+ school. This reflects its commitment to academic excellence.

The school’s focus is clear. It is to provide students with an equitable, high-quality education. This education emphasizes math, engineering, science, and technology. The goal is to prepare students for the challenges of a competitive global workforce.

Walk through the doors of Chicago Math and Science Academy. You’ll immediately sense something unique. Eighty-five percent of the students are eligible for free lunch. The school is highly diverse. Over 40 countries are represented within its student body.

Administrators, teachers, and families all hold high expectations. Students also expect a lot from their teachers. This culture of mutual accountability drives achievement.

The original Chicago Math and Science Academy building was on West Lunt Avenue. It was formerly part of St. Jerome Parish School. In May 2009, the academy purchased the vacant Clark Mega Mall property for $5.5 million. It then moved to its current location on North Clark Street.

The new building offered more space. It went from 42,000 square feet to 54,000 square feet. A gym was added in November 2013. The school still lacks a dedicated auditorium.

Chicago Math and Science Academy operates through Concept Schools. Concept Schools is a non-profit charter management organization. It manages high-quality charters in the Midwest.

Admission to Chicago Math and Science Academy is not selective. A public lottery drawing occurs each year in February. Parents can apply online for all grades. If seats are open, students are accepted. If not, they are placed in a lottery.

U.S. News & World Report has consistently ranked Chicago Math and Science Academy highly. For three years in a row, it has been the #1 public charter high school in Illinois. GreatSchools.org rates the academy a 7 out of 10. This rating reflects test scores, student progress, college readiness, and equity.

Chicago Math and Science Academy is more than just a school. It’s a place where students are encouraged to be bold inquirers and ethical leaders. It’s a community where excellence thrives and where nothing truly is impossible.
